Lutheran Military Veterans and Families Ministries

Board of Directors

Dr. Hauschild
President of the Board

Dr. Daniel Hauschild

I am a Ft. Wayne native and attended Lutheran Schools through completing my BA with a dual major in psychology from Concordia University in River Forest.

I completed my doctorate in clinical psychology from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology in Chicago. While in graduate school, I worked with developmentally disabled populations. I completed my internship at Sinai Hospital in Detroit, with an emphasis in neuropsychology. I then took classes at Concordia Theological Seminary working on a Masters of Arts in Religion, completing the coursework but never writing the thesis.

I have worked at a Clinical Psychologist since 1991 in private practice, hospital, and nursing home settings.

I have taught undergraduate psychology, served as a clinical assistant professor at IU Medical School in Ft. Wayne, guest lectured at Concordia theological Seminary, and given presentations to churches, nursing homes, and industry.

I have been married 20 years and have three children. I have served on various church committees at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, including spending the last six years as chairman of the Board of Elders and Secretary of the Nominating & Personnel Team.

In 2004 I became involved with assisting with the development of soldier assessments for the soldier care program that was under development by Chaplain Jim Cotter and his assistant CPT Leslie Haines which has now evolved into the current ministry that is unfolding.

I take a leadership role in my church through singing and leading worship on the Praise team as well as participating on the Child Care Board. Currently I am in training with the Christ Care Ministry program of Praise Lutheran Church.

After prayerful consideration I agreed to serve on this board because:

· Though I have no family members serving, I have friends that have and are serving in the military and I realize the tremendous need for care of Spiritual, physical, emotional and social needs when they come home.

· I have watched since its beginnings the development of this ministry to our military veterans and their families and believe that this is a program that has great potential to successfully and thoroughly, meet these needs.

· I believe we, as Americans, have a responsibility to care for those who serve during and after their service.

· Though I have relatively little experience with military life and may not be able to contribute strongly in those ways, I have extensive knowledge about child development and family care ministries. I believe this information will be valuable and relevant to meeting the objectives and mission of this ministry.

I am looking forward to meeting all of you and to serving together on this board(team). From what has been shared, we have many different spiritual gifts and abilities, and yet, we share the same goal of caring for our military veterans and their families. This variety of gifts and abilities should allow us to draw on each other’s strengths and enable us to minister in the most effective way as God intends.

Susan TillSusan (Waikel) Till

I was born and raised in Ft. Wayne, baptized at St. Paul’s and attended St. Paul’s Lutheran School. After 4th grade our family move to Tucson, AZ and Dayton OH for several years. We came back to Ft. Wayne and I attended Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church and school on St. Mary’s Avenue. I graduated from Concordia Lutheran H.S. and worked in business field for several years before marriage and family.

I was stay-at-home mom for many years, working at home in photo negative retouching for commercial photo studios. I became involved with many volunteer groups over the years

· Allen Co. Alcohol Council (my brother was almost killed by a drunken driver),

· Izaak Walton League (Dedicated to protecting our nation’s soil, air, woods, waters and wildlife) and

· our community association and served on their Boards and as an officer.

I have worked as a full time Real Estate Broker with Willow Creek Realty since 1987 and work with my sister in that firm. I love working with people and helping them accomplish their dreams of owning their own home or selling a home to move on with their lives in another.

Since 1987 I have worked with Lutheran Ministry Media, Inc. and their television program “Worship for Shut-Ins” ~ which is the only consistently active Lutheran Church Missouri Synod television worship service in the country. I have worked as floor director and have served on the board of directors for LMM as well as in the position of Board Chairman. This ministry is in 17 television markets including most of Indiana and 7 other states and many nursing homes and hospitals on their closed-circuit systems. This is an independent LCMS ministry and is registered with LCMS as an RSO. We have 3 full time and 1 part time employee, 82 volunteers and hope to expand further.

Activities and Enjoyment
My husband and I are Charter members of Praise Lutheran Church and have served on the Church Council at Praise and at present work with the property ministry.

We have three grown children – all CLHS graduates. We now have 6 grandchildren. Only one lives in Fort Wayne so we do tend to travel some since my husband retired. I enjoy my family and gardening. I also hope to expand my cooking skills in the future.

This ministry is very much needed and all of my husband’s family has been or is involved in military – with a nephew and his son both overseas. One is on his 3rd Iraq tour.

I am a lifelong northern Indiana resident. I graduated from DeKalb High School in Waterloo, Indiana in 1984. In 1986 I received my Associates Degree from Ivy Technical College, Ft. Wayne IN.

Recently, I have worked in government assisted housing until coming to my current position in the accounting department at Concordia Theological Seminary.

I am a life time member of Zion Lutheran Church, Corunna, IN. I am a member of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League, and have served as Treasurer for the Board of Directors of both the church’s Lutheran Women’s Missionary League and also the local Chamber of Commerce.

I have been married for 12 years. I enjoy pets and traveling.

I am preparing to serve on a short term mission trip to Guatemala City, Guatemala and am also preparing for a short term mission trip to Sudan, Africa.

My reason for serving on this Board of Directors is twofold. I have personally witnessed the problems families experience when a soldier returns from war and their medical and emotional issues are not given the attention they need. More importantly, I believe that a Christian ministry focused on providing these soldiers and their families with the care and assistance that is indicated is the most effective means of providing assistance. I have full faith that this ministry will remain focused on doing just that, and am honored to be a part of it.
