John Cains
JOHN JOSEPH CAINS, 78, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 8, 2023.
Born in Fort Wayne on Aug. 17, 1944, he was a son of the late Eugene and Eleanora (Alter) Cains. John served in the United States Navy from 1962 to 1968 as a Petty Officer 3rd Class. He had worked for GTE, later retiring after several years of service. John was a devoted member to St. Mark Lutheran Church for over 49 years. He also belonged to the Knights of Columbus and was an official for the Komets hockey for 26 years. Besides his passion for the Komets, he enjoyed taking cruises with his family.
John is survived by his wife, Kay (Thiele) Cains; sons, Michael (Andrea) and Christopher Cains; grandchildren, Abigail and Camille Cains; brother, Donald Cains; sister, Kathy (Joe) Haines; brother-in-law, Gary Lewellen; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in passing by his sister, Gerri Lewellen; and sister-in-law, Ann Cains.
